I believe last
word says the state department wasn't bombed and that
all planes should have landed by now.
There were
like 50 domestic planes that were within 30 mins from
their destinations and they were allowed to land as were
22 or so foreign planes that were allowed to land in the
US due to complications with landing in Canada.

A couple of
people have mentioned Tom Clancy novels, i'm having
those flashbacks too.
The premise in these
novels is that the US is unprepared to prevent an attack
of this type, which is true. I used to work security at
Logan Airport in Boston, and it's mostly a joke. Any
Terrorist with half a clue could find a way to get
around the security and get a gun into the terminals.
The purported reason that terrorists have not
made a large-scale terrorist attack on the United States
in the past is psycological. The feeling is that the
terrorists know that the citizens of the United States
are mostly compacent about global matters, foreign
policy is not a major concern unless it effects us here.
With this attack they have "awakened the giant". This is
the worst attack on American soil since Pearl harbor, I
imagine the responce will be similar.

This act is
much worse than Pearl Harbor ever was...and as Many high
lvl Govt officials and former Sec. of Defense have said
The European Union and Russian Gov't...That this was a
act of WAR. It is sad beyond belief and shocked, but we
are forced to be at WAR! And all countries Harboring
terriorost or show support prepare to have the same
fate..I mean Cities in dust. The response must be
1000times worse. Estimate 10,000+ American citizens died
today. Thats atleast 1/5th of the entire Vietnam War and
1/4th of the Korean War in one act. America today has
lost alot of its freedom and will never be the same. The

hours ago. i am glad i got to leave. I was pretty
nervous at the time.

do not yet know who was responsible for the attacks.
2. There are a lot of people in the mid-east
that do not like (even hate) the United States because
of our support for Israel. Just like you or I, here in
the U.S., they are entitled to their opinion.
3.
When a specific mastermind/group/political leadership is
found to have organized this, I have no problems with
dropping the gloves and pursuing them with full-force.
However, until that time (which is not here yet) the
best thing we can do is pick up the pieces, help the
wounded, bury our dead, and start the investigation.
4. True muslims will denounce this kind of
atrocity. Please do not pretend to understand the way
the muslim religion works until you have read the Koran
or become familiar with it. There are many
misconceptions, and it is neither your fault or the
faults of any others that share your views. This is how
we have been socialized in the United States.
Lets back away from the calling for people's
heads until we know whose heads to call for.

We had bomb
threats at Houston ship channel..our school evacuated
since in area. Who knows this may all be the start of
something very nasty can harbor bio or nukes in ships
afganastan has nuclear technology...I dont think todays
actions will be the last.
My personal opinion is

them having 18 minutes to evacuate saving lives is too
optimistic after hearing that it took up to two hours to
get out of the building during the Trade Center Bombing
years ago.
Sirton's figures may have to be
adjusted to about half of the lives lost in the Vietnam

All of the evidence although not substantiated
points toward a Muslim extremist group. Take a look at
almost all of the terrorist attacks carried out against
US targets recently and virtually all were Muslim
extremist groups claiming responsibility.
I do
agree however that true Muslims will denounce this act.
The Koran does not preach violence the same as the Bible
doesn't but how many so called religious leaders have
duped their followers into terrible acts all under the
guise of religion.
One thing is certain in my
mind that unless the US reacts swiftly and harshly these
acts will continue to play themselves out.

I read your post several times, and we agree on
all points. The point I was really trying to get across
was that this is the time of prudence, not rash actions.
In the book 'The Sum of All Fears' by Tom
Clancy, terrorists set off a nuclear device at the
superbowl, and leave evidence to implicate a country as
being behind it in an effort to start off World War III.
Also, please recall that when the Oklahoma City
bombing occurred, initially Mid-East terrorists were
accused of being responsible. We all know how that
turned out.
In summation, I am not saying a
Mid-East terrorist group is not responsible, and I am
not saying we should not take action. What I am saying,
is that once we have a target, we erradicate it with
extreme prejudice.

I was talking
to my girlfriend on the phone (I'm at work) as she was
describing the plane hitting the first tower, when she
gasped and was unable to talk. My heart froze because I
realized it was something very serious. She started
crying and could barley tell me that a second plane had
hit the second tower on TV. That was first thing this
morning. I have been searching out the info available to
me since then.
My heart goes out to all
involved.
But let's take a serious look at
casualty figures.
Just so everyone knows, 50,000
is the max capacity of the Towers. When the attack
occurred proir to 9am, there were maybe 20,000 in both
towers. If the attack had happened 2 hours later, the
numbers would've been more like 40,000.
>1st
tower is hit. Kills all on board the plane and takes
lives from the initial explosion.
After this
point, people were already starting the evac proceedure
from both towers and the surrounding buildings when the
next attack occurred.
>2nd tower is hit.
Kills all on board the plane and kills many in the
blast.
It was about 1/2 hour before the towers
actually fell. Reports from hospitals confirm casualties
from the intital blasts have made it to hospitals. It's
safe to assume the majority of the people up to the
colission area had made it out. However, anyone above
the blast area on both towers were stuck.
>Towers collapse killing anyone remaining in
the buildings (mainly in the upper floors), including
God knows how many rescue workers, firemen, and police
officers.
These figures, combined with the other
plane crashes and numbers that have been made public in
reguards to the Pentegon make me believe the total DEATH
count will be in the area of 7-10,000. Injuries will be
astronomical.
Hopefully this will put some
perspective on the numbers that are in people's heads.
This incident weighs heavily on my heart and mind.

Personal
opinion is that there will be plenty of evidence of who
did this, despite public denials and claims of
responsibility. Those planes made major flight path
deviations and were in the air for sometime. There had
to be some kind of contact with flight controllers.
Also, if the cockpit flight recorders are found, there
will be clues there as to who did this. No airline pilot
would fly those planes into the towers EVEN with a gun
at their head. I speculate that they had semi-trained
pilots on board that were willing to die. I also
speculate that somehow the one that crashed in rural
pennsylvania was purposely put down there by a member of
the flight crew for the very reason they would refuse to
do it.
America will find out who did this. We
will make them pay.

Actually, it was on one of the
news channels that the managers of the WTC buildings
released a statement saying that at the time the first
plane hit the buildings, they were at full capacity.

I simply
cannot believe the world trade centers are GONE. From
the middle of one of the most densely packed places on
earth.
When you think the world is finally
figuring out violence isnt solving things...
*sigh*
I prayed i would never experience
a day that would landmark history like this.

Hoped
never to hear words like that and have the answer burned
in my memory so hard.
Personaly, I dont want to
see war, or bombings or any more death of any kind right
now thanks. I've had enough frankly. However feel free
to round up the in-humans that claim responsibility for
this. Throw them in a sensory deprivation chamber for
the next 30 years untill they forget what colors are and
what sound is. Untill they get a very real idea of how
precious life is.

I just saw
footage of children and everyone running and cheering
through the streets of gazza territorym wherever that
is. Everyone doing peace signs to the cameras and
smiling and cheering. I'm sorry but i hope we nuke the
streets where all these people are cheering for this
shit, children and all.
...My aunts office
is(was rather) on the 80th floor of the North World
Trade Center building, and my family has not heard from
her yet and we havent been able to get in touch.
